First day of practice! YAY! It was great to see so many new and old faces out there. Everyone looked like they were in pretty good shape, especially considering its only day 1 of practice. I'm keeping this short, as I have massive work to do, but I hope you all will use this website as a resource for results and other cool stuff about MCHS Track and Field. Please get me your info so that I can add you to the profile pages. See you all out on the track!
Track season is nearly here! The first day of practice is on monday! I hope everyone has their athletic packets in and has their white sheets ready to give to Danny. It's gonna be a great season. The Press Democrat posted a list of Empire athletes to watch. Many of our athletes made this list. On the girls side, we had Kaitlin Sather in the jumps, Jean Lightfoot in the throws, Jenna Lowder in the sprints, Kristen Sanzari in the middle and long distances, Amy Robinson, Leanne Fogg, Kristin Fladseth, and Jacqui Wentz in the distances. This is a great indicator of how strong our girls are expected to be this year. No other team had as many girls make the list as ours. On the guys side we didn't do as well, with only Michael Brew and Alex Wolf-Root making it on for the distances, but that won't stop us from having a greast season. We have great depth and many athletes ready to step up, so we will be ready to shock the Redwood Empire once the season comes. Hope to see you all at the first day of practice! The full lists can be seen here for girls and here for guys.
It's that time of year again! The discs are flying, the bars are (hopefully not) falling, the track is frying. It's Track time!
Again it seems that both teams will have a very strong season. On the girls' side, we return the top 100m, 800m, 3200m, shot put, and discus athletes in the Redwood Empire, the 2nd best 800m, 1600m, HJ, and LJ athletes in the Redwood Empire. and the 3rd best 200m, 400m, and 3200m, athletes in the Redwood Empire. We also return 3 of the 4 legs from our dominant 4x400m team. It looks as though we will cook up the track with all the pure running events, both with top marks and depth. We should have some heavy hitters in the field events, but our depth there is not as great. Still, the outlook looks very bright for our ladies this year.
On the guys' side, we only return the number 2 3200m runner, but we are much stronger than it would seem. After a dominate cross country season, the distance squad is very strong, and should dominate the three distance/middle distance events with great depth. Unfortunately, the rest of the events are somewhat lacking. Yet, many formerly average sprinters have been stepping it up with some good winter training, and will hopefully prove my earlier statement wrong. This team has a lot of potential, so lets see where it will take us...
I just got off the phone with 4 of our athletes who went down to the Diablo Valley College all-comers meet, for the first MCHS track and field (unofficial) event of the season. Check out the results in the results page.
